★★★★★★★★★★ 10/10

Deaf Havana have been on the music scene for years now but it seems lately that after the release of this album that they have absolutely blown up in popularity. After repeatedly being told to give the album a listen i eventually caved in and my only regret, was that i hadn’t done it sooner. As an old fan of Deaf Havana i was a bit apprehensive about listening because of the departure of their screamer and their decision to carry on as a four piece band so their songs would never be the same as “Friends Like These” or anything similar.

Right from the beginning of the album it is obvious to see that the band has definitely put generous amount of time into the writing level of the album, as if the singing and music wasn’t enough to make you love the album then the amazing lyrics will do the job. Right from the offset we see personal mentions of his friends and fellow musicians cleverly worked into the lyrics. The mention of Mike Duce from Lower Than Atlantis “We were all sinners and drunks but now they’re too mature for me, Mikes on daytime radio” the reference to LTA having been played numerous times on radio one.

My personal favourite song off of the album is the song ‘Little White Lies’ which features some singing from Portia Conn, the song itself isn’t amazing but for some reason yet again the Lyrics seem to stay strong in your head “If i had any heart left, i’d give it all to you” and although they are only repeated, it is because of James’s vocals mixed with that of Portia that the lyrics stay true and their voices seem to be almost perfectly paralleled.

The song ‘I’m a bore mostly’ is again one of the major hits of the album the lyrics are just superb and again stay in your head long after the song has ended. After a friend of mine has informed me that the lead singer James in fact does all the song writing himself it wouldn’t surprise me to see him nominated for some sort of best songwriter award. I know this review has not been particularly well writte but it is oly because im sturuggling to convey into words just how amazing this album is. It is truly one of my all time favourites and the band themselves deserve nothing but praise for their efforts.
